Course Overview
As developers, we often experience high stress in tackling lots of priorities at the same time. We have a new product to launch, incidents to resolve, new members to onboard, and a codebase to maintain. Sometimes, we work extra hours yet we continue to have a constant feeling that we’re always behind. Everything seems to be a priority, and there’s little time to wind down and take a breath. This causes more stress, which we take home and affects our home and sleep. If it goes on for too long, we might experience signs of burnout, and may even consider leaving our job in hopes of finding a new one where work-life balance is better maintained.
In this hands-on 4-hour workshop, we’re going to simulate a scenario where we receive multiple requests from the business. We’ll explore ways on how to prioritise effectively, and communicate our decisions to the team. Participants will leave from this workshop with a tool they can apply in their workspace to prioritise incoming requests. They will also receive templates they can use to communicate their priorities and increase clarity in their team. This is a highly interactive workshop, designed for software developers and tech leads, regardless of their experience.
Benefits
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Prioritise all types of incoming requests and tasks, using a powerful methodology that will be shared in the workshop

- Adjust their communication in relation to the recipient’s role in the organisation (developer, team lead or business stakeholder), to achieve a shared understanding

FAQ
Who can participate?
Software developers, tech leads, and engineering leaders who work within a tech team, and collaborate with others to bring a project to completion. Typically, this workshop is valuable for tech professionals who are already working within a team, or tech contractors who want to get a job within a team.
I’m not a developer but I work with developers (eg. QA, tester, product manager, agile coach). Can I still participate?
We regularly organise workshops, dedicated to different roles in the business. Reach out to find which workshop is best for you.
I’m a junior developer / I’m a senior developer. Is this for me?
If you’re finding this topic interesting, or want to build your skill in this area, then this is for you, regardless of your seniority. We get to make prioritisation calls from very early in our careers. You can be a university student who wants to get exposed to what’s coming, a software developer at the start of your career or further along, an engineering leader and you want to bring new prioritisation tools in your team.
How large will the class be?
Maximum team’s size: up to 10 participants. We believe that learning in smaller groups brings more value to participants.
Oh no! The class is full! Is there a waitlist?
What a wonderful problem to have! Reach out and we’ll find a way or a new date to run the workshop again!
